The Eighteenth Century: Theory and Interpretation fosters theoretical and interpretive research on all aspects of Western culture from 1660 to 1830. The editors take special interest in essays that apply innovative contemporary methodologies to the study of eighteenth-century literature, history, science, fine arts, and popular culture.

The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition, should govern all questions of style and format. Contributors should submit an MS Word attachment along with a cover sheet containing the author's postal and email addresses to ECTI@usc.edu. The manuscript should be no longer than 9,500 words (inclusive of notes) and blind, with all references to the author removed. Obviously unacceptable essays will be returned within two weeks; essays being seriously considered will be kept for three to six months.
